What is Microsoft SSIS?

Microsoft SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) is an enterprise data integration, data transformation and data migration tool that is built into Microsoft’s SQL Server database. It can be used for a variety of integration-related tasks, such as analyzing and cleansing data and running extract, transform and load processes to update data warehouses.

SSIS is very easy to use because of its drag and drop features. It is commonly used in the ETL (Extract Transform and Load) process for migrating transactional data into data warehouses for analysis. SSIS is part of the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack and is very powerful. You can create packages to be automated and create complexed business logic into reports to get the right answers to complex questions.
